Miss HB Ruby Brown-Bilyeu

Miss Huntington Beach Ruby Brown-Bilyeu is a senior at Huntington Beach High School where she maintains a cumulative 4.1 GPA (on path to graduate Magna Cum Laude), while taking rigorous AP and Honors courses. Ruby is involved in Model United Nations (MUN), National Honor Society (NHS), and HB Academy for the Performing Arts Student Council, where she is the Director of Leadership for the Orchestra Department.

Ruby plans to continue pursuing her passions by obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree with a Major in Music Therapy and a Double Minor in Neuroscience Education and Ballet.

She has been a member of Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts program for four years where she studies Orchestra and Dance. She dances as a Ballerina for the Ballet Ensemble and works behind the scenes as a Choreographer. Ruby continues her talents as a well-rounded percussionist participating in Marching Band, Drumline, Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, and Festival Orchestra. In the past four years, she has won seven music award titles, including the prestigious Instrumentalist Magazine Musicianship Award for Distinguished Musical Excellence. Because Ruby is aware that not every child is fortunate enough to have access to music education, her platform is Save The Music Foundation. Over the past 25 years, this organization has contributed instruments, music technology, support for music teachers, and advocates for music education to our younger generation. Ruby hopes to continue their legacy here as Miss Huntington Beach. She aims to share her motto: “Where Words Fail, Music Speaks”.

Miss Huntington Beach Princess Stella Scott is a 19-year-old Huntington Beach local and Magna Cum Laude graduate of Huntington Beach High School. She served as a 3-year varsity captain for the Track and Field team and placed as Sunset League champion. Stella also led the high school's sports photography business each year. She served as head of a fundraising campaign with Rotary Club to build wells in the Philippines. She volunteers every school break at the Environmental Nature Center. As a camp leader, she helps foreign children embrace and share their culture.

Currently studying Criminology, Law, and Society with a minor in International Relations at the University of California Irvine, she is the lead intern for UCI’s Athletics Department. As the Social Media Manager for the D1 NCAA Men’s Water Polo team, she attended all games and generated content that increased their social media engagement by 600%. Off-campus Stella works as a greeter at our beloved Duke’s Restaurant on the Pier. She joined their Ohana and loves to spread the joy that Duke's has brought to her life.

Stella hopes to bring together our community by encouraging activity and providing athletic opportunities to those who are unable to access sports. Stella cannot imagine a childhood, or life in general, without the element of being active. As Miss Huntington Beach, she will use her platform to strengthen our community through physical activity.

Miss Huntington Beach Princess Lainie Shield is an 18-year-old proud resident of Huntington Beach. She is a graduate of Huntington Beach High School where she served as not only Mascot Club President but the mascot. While at HBHS, Lainie attended multiple high school ROP (Regional Occupational Program) classes and was dually enrolled 10th to 12th grades.

Currently, she is studying Criminal Justice with a Biology Minor at Goldenwest and Rio Hondo Colleges. She is graduating early and will pursue her Bachelor’s at UC Irvine. Her goal is to become a police officer and join the HB Special Investigations Bureau. She now serves as Captain of the Huntington Beach Police Explorers, where she dedicates her time to learning about policing and participates in bimonthly exercise drills. As one of the few women in the HPBD Explorers, Lainie looks forward to championing the future of women in policing.

Lainie’s chosen platform is The Cody Waters Foundation. This foundation was established to honor her cousin, Cody Waters, who died of cancer in 2009. Cody wanted his dad, Lainie's uncle, to buy video games and movies for him and other children looking to escape the boredom of a hospital bed after discovering these children had to watch the same movies over and over again while hospitalized. Cody's message has advanced beyond their hopes. Annually,“Cody’s Off-Road Ride to Survive” poker run raises funds to donate to CHOC to support Cody's peers. As Miss Huntington Beach, Lainie aims to share the power of Cody’s story and continue to honor his legacy.

With scientific evidence correlating the benefits of physical activity, mental health, and social skill development, Stella believes that everyone should have the opportunity to engage in physical activities.
